Welcome to a new season of classical music!

Kicking off the season is "Straussermania!" with soloist Roland Pöntinen on piano. All under the baton of conductor Eduardo Strausser.

...

The Norrlandsoperans Symphony Orchestra has a new chief conductor, Eduardo Strausser from Brazil. In the season's first concert, he will guide us through Bartók's beloved piano concerto. Roland Pöntinen will be at the piano.

About Eduardo Strausser Eduardo Strausser, born in 1985 in São Paulo, Brazil, now residing in Berlin. He is in high demand by concert and opera houses in Europe, Latin America, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, and has worked with both newly written works and classical operas.

He speaks eight languages fluently and is described by many as a charismatic conductor. He is also immensely popular among our musicians – which contributed to his appointment as chief conductor with responsibility for future programming.

One thing we appreciate about Eduardo is that he cares deeply about the audience. Now we hope you will enjoy together!

We start the season with beautiful music from the last two centuries.

First up is "Sturm und Drang" by composer Frangis Ali-Zadeh, who is also based in Berlin. In her compositions, Western modernism is combined with the traditional mugham music from Azerbaijan.

Then we move on to Béla Bartók's third piano concerto, together with the Swedish-Finnish star pianist, Roland Pöntinen.

Of course, we end the concert on a high note, with Antonín Dvořák's lively eighth symphony.

Which languages does he speak? Well, Portuguese, Romanian, English, Hebrew, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. Perhaps Swedish will be the ninth?
